Staff and pupils from both the past and present got together for the unveiling of a new library and computer centre at Arnett Hills James Madison Intermediate School in Rickmansworth, according to the Watford Observer.
The school's first headteacher David Evans came back to the establishment after 20 years of retirement to comment on the previous facilities, including a BBC Micro which cost nearly £1,000.
Although the new facilities cost £150,000 this time round, the newspaper continued, the school got more bang for their buck as it now contained 30 brand-new computers, interactive whiteboard facilities and hundreds of new books.
Headteacher Tracey Ali told the news provider: "It has cost us a lot of money but we know it will be worth every penny. The children and staff all absolutely love using it.
"It allows each child to work independently and improve their learning."
Last week, St Philip Howard Catholic High School in Barnham announced that it would be pioneering an e-learning platform, allowing students to work wherever they had internet access.
