Councillors in Maidenhead have approved a project which will see the creation of an eco-classroom at one of the town's schools, it has emerged.

Lowbrook Primary School was given the thumbs up by councillors from the Maidenhead development control panel, who unanimously favoured the development, which is estimated to cost £500,000, the Maidenhead Advertiser revealed.

Commenting on the development, Headteacher Dave Rooney told the news provider: "We are absolutely delighted that it has been accepted. It is hugely exciting for the staff and pupils at the school."

The plans, which feature such things as a retractable wall for movement in the summer and an environmentally-friendly roof produced from grass and wood, will be literally laid in stone next February.

Cabinet members announced their intentions to apply for Government funding for the Building Schools for the Future scheme at the end of October, according to the newspaper.ADNFCR-1162-ID-18892561-ADNFCR
