Carrying out a skills audit of your staff helps you identify where training and development or recruitment may be needed to address any skill gaps. An audit will also help you get the right mix of staff for your school.
The best place to start with this is by using the school improvement planning framework. The modular framework consists of tools based on the remodelling principles.
A specific skills audit of staff who support teaching and learning can be based on the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning. We have developed a ‘role audit tool’ for this which can be found in the NOS online guidance.
The tool can help identify who, within the workforce, has the required skills and knowledge for different learning support roles and responsibilities.
