The mainstream ITT route covers training carried out by higher education institutions (HEIs) and school-based initial teacher training (SCITT) providers.  The ITT Funding Team operates the ITT provider funding, training bursaries and recruitment premiums.  For more information about mainstream ITT funding for academic year 2008/09, download the Mainstream ITT scheme funding manual 2008/9 (PDF, 204 KB).

The ITT Funding Team is also responsible for the funding of the employment-based ITT (EBITT) routes which includes the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP), the Registered Teacher Programme (RTP) and the Overseas Trained Teacher Programme (OTTP). ITT providers that receive TDA funding are bound by the terms of the TDA's financial memorandum, which states the terms and conditions under which payment is made. Providers that receive TDA funding are subject to monitoring and auditing.

Although the ITT Funding Team manages and administrates the funding, it is the TDA's finance office that processes payments, which it does under instruction from the ITT Funding Team.  Funds are paid on the first working day of the month

The ITT Funding Team have an extranet which providers can use to view their current allocations and a payment profile which details a breakdown of the funding they receive.  Providers can also access historical information such as funding manuals and letters.  The ITT Funding extranet is available at https://ittprovider.tda.gov.uk and is accessible via a secure username and password.
