ITT professional resource networks

ITT professional resource networks (IPRNs) are expert groups which develop ITT practice by:

  • reviewing the knowledge base
  • identifying and developing effective practices, and
  • providing relevant support and examples.

TDA-supported IPRNs

Behaviour4Learning

Behaviour4Learning focuses on developing trainee skills and insights, which foster a classroom ethos of ‘behaviour for learning’. The website offers initial teacher trainers and trainees a range of materials on classroom management and behaviour for learning, including:

  • practice-related research
  • examples of effective training practices
  • new initiatives, including internationally-developed examples
  • a glossary of behaviour-related topics, and
  • links to Teachers TV clips.

Multiverse

Multiverse provides initial teacher trainers and trainees with a comprehensive range of resources focusing on the educational achievement of pupils from diverse backgrounds. It has been developed in response to the surveys which show that a significant number of NQTs still need support in teaching pupils with English as an additional language. The website is organised into a number of categories ensuring resources are easily accessible.  The strands available include among others: 

  • race and ethnicity
  • social class
  • religious diversity
  • bilingual and multilingual learners
  • refugees and asylum seekers, and travellers and Roma.

The resources range from ITT learning and teaching materials, research papers, government reports, articles from the media, case studies, and video clips.

Evaluation

The Knowledge in ITT team has awarded a two year contract (January 2008 – January 2010) to the University of Leeds to evaluate the impact of the TTRB, Behaviour4Learning and Multiverse. This work will produce a number of case studies which are intended to be published, outlining how providers are making use of these projects and how these resources have produced a change in ITT practice. 

The reports will also in addition help inform the future direction of projects and investigate issues of long term sustainability. The timeline for this work is:
