If you have any questions regarding the rules, please speak to the administrator before confirming your acceptance. Any breach of tests centre rules will be treated very seriously.
If a candidate is found to be in breach of the rules below, their test may be stopped. The TDA will then take appropriate action. This may include setting conditions on taking future tests and invalidation of results.
- Candidates must behave courteously and treat administrators with respect while on test centre premises.
- Candidates must not attempt to gain a pass result for a QTS skills test by using unfair or unacceptable methods.
- No personal items are allowed in the test room; this includes mobile phones (which should be switched off on entry to the test centre), calculators, dictionaries, bags and coats.
- No notes or support materials may be taken into the test room.
- Notepaper and pencils are provided by the test centre and must be handed back at the end of the test.
- Nothing should be written down before the first question (or practice question in numeracy) has appeared.
- Personal calculators must not be used during the numeracy skills test. An onscreen calculator is provided.
- Candidates must not attempt to communicate with any other candidate at any time while in the test room.
- Making a noise, creating a disturbance, eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed in the test centre.
Incident investigation
The TDA will investigate any reports of candidates found to be in breach of these rules, for example, behaving discourteously, communicating with others during tests, making notes before the tests have begun or using unauthorised materials. The regulations and procedures covering the investigation of incidents with regards to the QTS skills tests can be downloaded on the right.
From 1 January 2009 candidates requiring invigilation or a TDA presence will only be able to take their tests at London Victoria and Manchester test centres on limited available dates.
