Step 1: Identify the appropriate qualification

The first stage in selecting which units should be completed is to identify which NVQ level is appropriate for the job role. The level 2 NVQ does not have to be completed before doing the level 3 NVQ. Candidates must be able to gather evidence from the workplace for assessment for the NVQ and it is important work activities relevant to the units chosen are a regular part of the job role.

Use the checklist below to help you decide whether the level 2 or level 3 NVQ would be best. For each pair of statements, select the one that best describes the job role. Select the option in the right hand column if neither statement applies.
