Support work in schools (SWiS) qualifications are designed to provide you with training relevant to your role in school. The qualifications are flexible: take them when you are ready, where you are. They are tailored to your specific development needs and relevant to your role in school.
Are the SWiS qualifications for you?
- Do you work in a school? Either directly employed by the school or by a contractor?
- Do you want to gain a nationally recognised qualification?
- Do you want to enhance your skills and develop your school?
If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of the above, you should consider a SWiS qualification. The SWiS qualifications are free and you will be supported by your training provider during your training.
What are the SWiS qualifications?
SWiS are available at two levels:
- level 2: award and certificate
- level 3: award, certificate and diploma
Choose optional units that suit you, including:
- supporting literacy and numeracy activities in the classroom
- maintaining site security
- contributing to the development and introduction of recipes and menus
- liaising effectively with parents
Treat the SWiS qualifications as a stepping stone. You may want to continue with the next appropriate level within the suite of SWiS qualifications or explore the range of alternative development opportunities. Use the left hand menu to navigate the support work in schools qualifications pages.
